FKA Twigs is really in a league. I was mentally ready to be amended By the new album since she released the truly breathtaking clip “Eusexua” in September (which presents two songs, “Drums of Death” and “Eusexua”), but it is even more beautiful than I do ‘was. FKA Twigs described the state of “eusexua” as a “pure presence. It’s a moment of nothingness. Or it’s time before a really incredible idea … It is this presence without ego that is just filled with this kind of tiring clarity. Call me cheesy, but listening to this album is a spiritual experience every time.
Eusexua ABS and flows during its 11 tracks, starting almost Angelic with the title track before transporting you directly to a throbbing and disorienting club dance floor with “Drums of Death” and “Room of Fools”, then descend into a Sweetness, emotionally raw place with “sticky”. The “childish things” resemble the appearance of unexpected joy, almost out of words between “keep it, hold it” and “striptease”, but in a way that really grew up.
“Perfect Stranger”, towards the start, and the penultimate song “24hr Dog” almost feels like the two sides of the same medal, the latter striking like the vulnerable comedown of the first. I love each song of this album, but I can’t stop listening to me “Girl Feel Good”, which seems to be transplanted in 2025 from the 90s and strikes me in the right way.
