Which Marvel Metal Is Stronger?

In the Marvel Universe, some heroes and villains have shown their courage and heroes and villains have fought over literal metal. Specifically, the oft-mentioned alloys found in both hidden African countries and openly angry Canadians. We are of course talking about the ancient and mystical Vibranium and the slightly more manufactured Adamantium which was key to the creation of the fearsome Weapon X aka Logan aka Wolverine aka the bullet from the Fastball Special.

While both can be used for both good and evil depending on which metalworker you talk to, the most important debate that has raged for years is: Which of these two popular materials is stronger? ? Under expert care and almost unthinkable strength, you can bend to the wearer’s will when necessary, but when push comes to shove, which hero would you rather hold the line – the one in a suit made of a metal or from another who has it as their personal cutlery set and can “snikt” it whenever they want? Well, after intense evaluation as well as in-depth analysis of other Marvel metals that might be able to hold up against the two most talked about types, the winner might actually surprise you, buddy.

There’s no doubt that Vibranium is a big deal in the Marvel Universe, especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the item that plays an important role in Black Panther’s arsenal and was also used to create Captain America’s star-spangled shield. That said, when it comes to basic requirements like density and durability, Adamantium is much stronger than Vibranium.

He debuted in “Avengers” #66 in 1969 when Ultron used it as metal to create a new bodyAdamantium is a virtually indestructible substance that can withstand the strength of some of Marvel’s most powerful characters (more on that later). It can withstand a nuclear blast and cut through almost any substance depending on the strength of the person swinging it. The best version to get your hands on is True Adamantium, which coats Wolverine’s bones, allowing him to be so good at what he does (even if what he does isn’t very cool).

Although this metal can be reproduced, it unfortunately has drawbacks. The biggest problem is that it is largely a single material. Once it takes any form, it cannot be changed, which is why it has been used to make so many blades, custom suits, and claw covers. If you want something a little more adaptable, you’re better off heading to Wakanda and getting the metal that has been applied to some of the Marvel Universe’s most iconic weapons. That is of course if a Wakandan royal gives the green light.

Adamantium may be a strong, durable metal that can be licked and still function, just like the highly sought-after vibranium. The difference with the Wakandan-based substance is that it can be used for a variety of purposes beyond giving the local hero retractable cat claws. Originating from a meteorite that crashed into Earth a million years ago, Earth today is the only remaining place that harbors this metal with technological and energy manipulation properties. In one of its most basic uses, it is applied to Wakandan weapons, as well as the Panther Habit (the suit worn by T’Challa). The key trick to the prince’s iconic outfit is that it can absorb different types of energy and redirect it as a method of defense or attack. She also stores a variety of Vibranium weapons that give the Panther the advantage against a multitude of enemies.

Besides the Panther’s legendary sons, Vibranium has also been applied to all kinds of notable objects in the Marvel Universe. Not only did Hawkeye use it in his arrowheads, but it was also mixed to create reinforced concrete for the foundations of Avengers Tower. Most notable though is that Vibranium is actually mixed with a version of Adamantium called Proto-Adamantium which led to the creation of Captain America’s shield, making it one of the most powerful weapons on the planet. It’s this multi-use ability that makes Vibranium more powerful in different ways.

Superheroes not getting along is a common occurrence in comic book history, but in the rare event that Asgard’s greatest protector has to do battle with the Prince of Wakanda, how can both sides’ weapons do they behave against each other? Wakanda may be home to an otherworldly metal used throughout T’Challa’s arsenal, but its strength against the God of Thunder’s iconic weapon has fluctuated over the years, sometimes struggling as much to resist the hammer as to take a hit. . Mjolnir itself is made from Uru, depicted in the comics as a metal ore from the first moon in existence, and in the MCU and main comics universe it has been swung against the Captain America’s shield and left a few scratches as a result.

In the comics, much like the MCU, Cap’s shield was able to stop Mjolnir in its tracks, but not without sending out shockwaves from the impact. As for adamantium in its purest form, the two substances were recorded as apparently being evenly matched thanks to an occasion where Wolverine and Thor threw each other. In “Wolverine vs. Thor”, the former was hypnotized by Loki to attack the God of Thunder, Logan’s claws were unable to scratch even the surface of Mjolnir while Thor remained on the defensive. At the same time, Thor also did not damage Wolvie’s claws, proving that neither metal could impact the other.

Wolverine may be at odds with a Norse god, but he’s been proven to be no match for the master of magnetism. If there’s one downside to the tough and highly advanced metal coating on Logan’s bones, it’s that Magneto can easily pry them apart like squeezing a tube of toothpaste as shown in “X-Men” #25 , and it takes time for him to return to the comics. When it comes to Vibranium, however, things tend to get a little sketchy and, much like many brilliant substances under Erik Lensherr’s control, bend in several different directions.

Every time Magneto and Black Panther clashed, the metal-loving mutant admitted he couldn’t put a pearl on T’Challa’s suit because of the Vibranium it contained, but he was seen with other items made from Vibranium as separate doors in other issues. In the case of Captain America’s shield for example, there was an occasion in “Super Villain Team-Up #14” where Magneto was able to stop and throw it back at the super soldier and his allies. But there have also been occasions when Magneto has outright admitted to being incapable of handling the Frisbee feared by evildoers everywhere. Maybe it all depends on the shield Cap throws, because while the original version consisted of an adamantium variation (which would explain his control), other versions were pure Vibranium. We’ll have to wait for some clarity (from a safe distance) whenever Magneto arrives in the MCU to find out how things are handled there.

While the debate may ultimately be settled within the MCU over which metal is truly stronger, there’s a recently discovered contender in Marvel Comics that turns others into tinfoil and it’s forged in one of the Tony Stark’s fanciest costumes. In “The Invincible Iron Man” #15, the tech genius applied Mysterium, a metal from the White Hot Room, where mutants fled after the fall of Krakoa.

In a battle against a reconstructed corpse of Wolverine (these things are everywhere these days), Adamantium’s claws not only fail to open Stark’s new suit, they fold like dry spaghetti against him. Given that Adamantium has been proven to be the strongest in terms of density and durability, bending so easily against this new metal completely knocks it out of first place and should leave the Wolverine alive and well to realize that he has more than just Magneto to worry about now.

Certainly, given that Logan only just made his way into the MCU via “Deadpool & Wolverine” and Adamantium is he is rumored to be involved in “Captain America: Brave New World”, it’s possible that the metal best used for slicing and dicing will be the strongest metal on the chopping block for at least one universe into the future.
