Now, another solid film proves that streaming audiences can demand more than generic Svod Sols, as “Blink Twice” makes an impressive run on the major video charts.

Directed by Zoë Kravitz, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside and Feigenbaum (“High Fidelity”), “Blink Twice” was one of the biggest surprises of 2024establishing Kravitz as not only a capable filmmaker, but also a director to watch moving forward. The film stars Naomi Ackie as cocktail waitress Frida, who, alongside her friend Jess (Alia Shawkat), accepts an invitation to the private island of tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum). Once on the island, however, Frida slowly begins to suspect that all is not quite what it seems in this easy-going paradise. Things go from trendy and uncomfortable to straight-up Twisted as Frida discovers the true intention of her host and her entourage of insupposed yuppie bros. The final act of the film relies on an intense wit-f*** of a denouement, so that by The ending of “Blink Twice” You’re as breathless as the final revenge girls in the Kravtiz-inspired psychological thriller.

“Blink Twice” was once a modest box office success, but now it’s proving to be equally (if not more) a streaming success, with the film garnering a truly global audience and taking over the video charts.

But that’s just the beginning of this film’s streaming success.

But the next day, on January 23, it went straight to number one, where it has sat ever since, allowing it to make it to number two on the overall US chart (for both films and television). In Madagascar, northern Macedonia and Slovenia, the film has been number one since it hit the service. It also currently sits at number two on the charts of 56 other countries, suggesting that “Blink Twice” could take the top spot in many markets in the coming week. On top of all this, of the 101 countries in which “blinks twice”, its lowest chart position is fifth, and that’s just Malaysia and Turkey.
