She continued: “From my side, I felt like it wasn’t sexualized since a lot of my scenes were about the experience of being with yourself, and a lot of times we’re naked with ourselves, and these are those moments of our own personal gaze and self-judgment.”
“I think the depth of my vulnerability and the path it took me is, in a way, what I needed to help me tap into my own vulnerability,” the actress added.

Reflecting on her portrayal of Elizabeth Sparkle in the film, Moore noted that her personal life is unlike that of the character as she does not seem to care about the aging process.
She explained that it’s because she doesn’t rely solely on her appearance to determine her self-worth, although Moore admitted that hasn’t always been the case.
“This place where she feels so rejected and so hopeless, I think there’s a part of that that we — not just women — can all connect with on a human level,” she said.

“I’ve definitely been through this at different points in my life, where I too have placed too much value on my outer self and not enough on my inner self, and where I’ve given away my power based on validation from my appearance, ironically, was when I was much younger,” Moore continued.
“In particular, the scene where [my character] is about to be able to break out of the self-imposed prison of going on this date, I think the idea of going or changing her outfit and trying to make it better – you can make things worse,” Moore added. “Again, I think we’ve all had moments like that. Isn’t it?”

In her acceptance speech, Moore spoke about her struggles and her “low point” as she believed she was “not enough.”
She reiterated how much this award meant that she had been nominated four times before and had struggled to land a blockbuster role for decades.
The actress said: “In those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough, or pretty enough, or skinny enough, or just not enough, a woman said to me, ‘Just know that you won’t be Never.’ That’s enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just lay down the standard of measurement.'”
