Ange Postecoglou says his confidence in his ability to turn around Tottenham’s season has not wavered despite a sixth defeat in eight league matches this afternoon.
Spurs were beaten 3-2 at Everton with a late second-half comeback, giving the scoreline an element of respectability after a largely uninspiring performance at Goodison Park.
The relegation-threatened hosts led 3-0 at half-time after efforts from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Iliman Ndiaye were complemented by an Archie Gray own goal.
Spurs improved after the break but failed to find an underserved equalizer after goals from Dejan Kulusevski and substitute Richarlison.

Visiting fans vented their anger at Postecoglou and the players after the final whistle, but the Australian insisted he would continue to work hard to find solutions.
Asked if his faith was starting to waver, he told Sky Sports: “No, it’s not. If you look at the situation we’re in, it will eventually dissipate. I hope and believe that this will be the case. We will give ourselves the opportunity to achieve consistency in performance and results.
“I certainly didn’t lose confidence or determination to turn things around and the players showed in the second half that they hadn’t lost either.”
We struggled in the first half – Ange
The injured Spurs are 15th in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.
Postecoglou added: “It’s a difficult result. We struggled to really get into the game in the first half and that gave Everton some momentum. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb, but the players certainly tried to get the game back, but we couldn’t.
“We couldn’t really take control of the match. We struggled to find ground with and without the ball, which allowed them to get behind us. We had a few chances that we probably should have capitalized on early on, but it ultimately wasn’t enough.
“We are quite tense. We literally had 11 players fit enough to start the match. We didn’t have full control of our organization and Everton took advantage of that and we paid the price. Radu [Dragusin] had to withdraw due to the deep cut and restructuring.
“In the second half we had a fair share of the game. We started strong and I thought Richarlison made a difference and presence and Mikey Moore gave us something on the left.
Tottenham looking to make January move
The transfer window is open and Spurs are working hard to strengthen their squad.
“There will be an emergency but I don’t need to say it, everyone can see it,” Postecoglou said. “I have no problem with the way the club is going about it, they are working hard and trying to find solutions. These players definitely need help and I hope in the next 10 days we will find a solution It’s really delicate, we are not the only ones on the market. The club is making great efforts.
