Liverpool captain, Virgil Van Dijk, called on club supporters to create an intimidating atmosphere in Anfield while the team grows towards the glory of the Premier League.

On Sunday, a 2-0 crucial victory against the champions in the title of Manchester City in Etihad, graciousness of the goals of Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai, propelled Liverpool 11 points clearly at the top.

While Arsenal has always been in hand, the giants of Merseyside are now firm favorites to recover the title.

A key advantage in favor of Liverpool is their remaining list – seven of their last 11 championship games will be played in Anfield, a place renowned for its electric atmosphere.

Van Dijk urged club fans to exploit this energy and transform their domestic stage into an intimidating perspective for visiting teams.

Speaking after the victory over City, Van Dijk said: “I mentioned it after that [Wolves] game, it’s obviously quite normal to be [nervous] Like that, ”he said.

“It’s a human [reaction] That there could be anxious feelings when entering, and this could still be the case.

“But I think it helps us and they [the supporters] Also to make Anfield horrible for the opponent. Most of the time, we did this, and obviously, the way we play also helps this.

“How many home matches is it?” Seven out of 11. Make sure these seven will be incredible, as noisy as possible. I don’t think we have to talk about it because normally this is the case.

“So let’s go, let’s take advantage, let’s focus on Wednesday now, then we’ll see what’s going on afterwards.”

The triumph against City was particularly significant because he marked the first victory of Liverpool in the Premier League at the Etihad stadium in ten years.

The result closed a difficult section of four games in just 15 days, the Reds being ready to welcome Newcastle in Anfield on Wednesday evening.

“It was a big victory,” he said. “I said to the guys:” Do not take these victories for acquired, but when you go home, collect and be ready for preparation for Newcastle. “”

“This is the only thing we have to do. Vision of the tunnel. Nothing else really matters. And we also need our fans to be in great shape on Wednesday. “”

Van Dijk was a rock at the heart of the defense of Liverpool this season, playing every minute of his Premier League campaign.

His leadership was decisive, in particular given the concerns of injuries surrounding his defensive partners, notably Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah.

However, uncertainty persists on the future of Van Dijk in Anfield, because his current contract should expire at the end of the season.

Despite this, his commitment on the ground was unshakable while Liverpool continues to continue their domestic glory.
