A group of talented fans made a that they call Spacecraft. Even better? It’s technically legal. Harbor Masters, the team behind the project, used a tool that converts the original game’s ROM into executable code on PC, so it doesn’t use any proprietary Nintendo code.
This is the same method used for create the native PC port of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, . The members of this crew also carried Majora’s Mask And Super Mario 64 using the same conversion tool. There is a major caveat here. You will need your own legal source Fox Star 64 Game ROM to play.
Just like previous ports, Spacecraft features all kinds of modern bells and whistles to stand out from the 1997 original. The frame rate is higher and the port includes image smoothing technology for better visuals. There are custom textures and the ability to work on widescreen monitors, as seen above.
There is also another major advantage. This port is moddable, so who knows what we’ll see in the future once people get their hands on it. The team Ocarina of time The port has received a lot of love from the modding community. Some mods allow abilities from more recent Zelda games and the same adds functional Pikmin to the mix because, well, why not?
According to Redditors, the Fox Star 64 the port is easy to if it’s your bag. This requires Proton and some light hoop-hopping, as the code is not Linux based. It’s been a while since we received a legitimate Star Fox game from Nintendo, so it might quell that never-ending urge to roll over.
