“I haven’t eaten in 36 hours, so it’s funny,” the former Bachelor, 44, joked during the Thursday, January 9, episode of his show. “The Viall files” podcast. “I started a water fast. I don’t recommend it to anyone [and] It’s not a “Do this with me” kind of thing.
According to Viall, the diet is “meant to be really healthy” for individuals.
“It’s supposed to reduce the risk of cancer, it’s supposed to be good for inflammation, it’s supposed to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and things like that,” Viall said, noting that it’s his mother who told him about this fashion for the first time. “Occasional fasting is believed to have many health benefits.”
The seemingly “no water” diet — in which participants drink only water, bone broth or electrolytes — typically lasts a week. Viall, however, said his “goal is four days.”
“I needed a cleaning and I was eat too much sugar lately,” he explained. “I think my diet is not where it could or should be. It’s the new year, I was like ‘F— that.’ If my mother can do it, why can’t I?
Viall further emphasized that his fast was only “temporary.”
“Don’t follow my recommendations,” he told podcast listeners. “I do this for me. I don’t need comments from those who listen to me – good or bad.
According to Health LineWater fasting can stimulate weight loss and reduce the risk of chronic diseases, but is also associated with risks such as dehydration, orthostatic hypotension, or worsening of pre-existing conditions. (It is not recommended to participate for more than 72 hours.)
For Viall, the first hours of the fast were the most difficult.
“It was a rough first night – and I was fine,” he recalls. “I’m lovely right now. Last night was really bad. …They said the first 24 hours were tough and I felt really weak and tired.
by Viall marry, Nathalie Joy, rang to acknowledge that he was very “hungry” that evening.
“I’m also hurting because he’s been such a bitch to me all this time,” she joked. “She’s the hungriest person I’ve ever been around. He’s so angry, he’s so angry and I’m like, ‘You can stop whenever you want!’ Last night, in bed, I said to myself, “Do you want me to boil you some eggs?” Because it’s crazy. You are mean to me. It’s because you’re hungry and I understand.
Joy added: “I would also be mean because I’m mean when I’m hungry, but it’s like intense hunger. You can’t complain when it’s your fault.
